Bigfoot Content Health looks for editorial content debt: old content, broken links, missing image alt text and other things worth reviewing.

But context matters: a 15-year-old blog post may be perfectly fine as history. A 15-year-old service page probably deserves a look.

No magic score. Instead: detect → assess → review → resolve → recheck.

I’ve been blogging since the early 2000s. More than 330 posts, plus pages that somehow survived several WordPress themes, redesigns and probably a few questionable decisions.

Which eventually raised a slightly uncomfortable question:

How consistent is all that content after 20+ years?

That rabbit hole became a WordPress plugin: Bigfoot Content Health.

Open Social Wall is now Bigfoot Open Wall.

v0.3.1 is out with the new name, some cleanup and another round of changes triggered by the WordPress.org review. The original name was too generic.

The review process is still ongoing, but the plugin is moving steadily towards wp.org.

Same idea, new name: open source, privacy-conscious, lightweight and RSS/Atom-first.

Open Social Wall 0.3.0 is out.

What started as a small Saturday rabbit hole now has a proper Gutenberg block, feed diagnostics and a decent pile of bug fixes around filtering, loading and feed handling.

Three screenshots, because apparently the rabbit hole has rooms now. Feed diagnostics even picked the perfect day to demonstrate themselves: is currently down.

Open Social Wall 0.2.0 is out in the wild.

New: native Gutenberg block, configurable source filters, control over the initial number of posts and inheritance of plugin defaults. Still lightweight, open source, privacy-conscious and RSS/Atom-first.

The wp.org review is still running. Until then, I’d be very happy if anyone wants to test it…

Dad vs. two boys. So far, age and wisdom are still holding the line against the Hive Mind.

Pictured: one Alpha Warrior deciding that two Infernus Marines looked like a fair fight.

The finale was even closer: one battered Psychophage vs. one badly mauled Terminator. The difference?
The Emperor was on his side.

Victory by wisdom, experience, and an entirely reasonable amount of luck.
For Macragge!

I’m quite happy with where it is now; although I’m not sure if that means “ready for WordPress.org” or just “dangerously optimistic”.

Anyone here with experience of the plugin review process?

Mastodon

I just wanted my and posts to show up nicely on my own site.

I couldn’t quite find something that felt clean and lightweight, so I tried the DIY route. Worked out with a fair amount of curiosity, trial and error, and probably more tabs open than strictly necessary.

Quite happy with the result:
Open Social Wall.

Starkes Podium: Marc Bachmann, Google Cloud; Laura Dornheim, CDO München; Gottfried Ludewig, Telekom; Lena-Sophie Müller, CEO Initiative D21; Bernie Wagner, Schwarz Digits / STACKIT; Harald Wehnes, Uni Würzburg/GI.

Spannend: München macht mit seinem „Souveränitätscheck“ Abhängigkeiten & Wechselmöglichkeiten von IT messbar. D21 wiederum bringt Wirtschaft, Politik, Wissenschaft & Zivilgesellschaft zusammen.

Souveränität wird konkret, wenn Wahlfreiheit konkret wird.

Mastodon

Mastodon

Mittwochabend, Bayerische Vertretung in Berlin.
